Why did summer go so quickly,

Just the fingers of your hand?
Pictures hanging in a hallway
And a fragment of a song,
Half remembered names and faces,
But to whom do they belong?

When you knew that it was over
And you were you suddenly aware,
That the autumn leaves were turning
To the color of her hair...

И на стрелках циферблата,
Что минувшим поросли,
И в письме без адресата,
Во вращении Земли -
Слышен ветер-суховей
В жерновах судьбы твоей.

Словно мчишься по тоннелю,
Уходящему в себя,
В пустоту за черной дверью,
Где ни ночи нет, ни дня.
Слышишь - музыка играет,
Как в полузабытом сне,
Словно камешки бросает
Кто-то в пену на волне,
Видишь стрелки циферблата,
Что минувшим поросли
И письмо без адресата
В паутине и пыли -
Это ветер-суховей
В жерновах судьбы твоей.

В чепуху слова одеты,
За душой - всего медяк.
Почему уходит лето?
Что мы делаем не так?
Кто-то встанет утром рано
И услышит мир вокруг,
Здесь слышны лишь барабаны -
Твоих пальцев нервный стук.
Фотографии на стенах
И обрывки нужных слов,
Чьи-то лица, словно тени
Неотпущенных грехов...

Но, сочтя любовь пропавшей,
Поражен ты был до слёз,
Что цвета листвы опавшей -
Это цвет её волос...
